100 Art Doll Challenge

I posted the two new assemblage dolls and forgot to mention that they are dolls one and two for me in the 100-Art-Doll-Challenge. Go to myartself.com to find out about the challenge. I noted before I wasn't expecting to manage to have all 100 dolls by the end of 2008. For me it was added incentive to work more on developing my creativity. I'm glad I finally can officially say I have started!
I will have more soon. There are many "mid-way" dolls in the studio just panting to be the next doll who gets finished.

Villamanga Class Assemblage Dolls

Earlier this year, I took an Assemblage Doll class at the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh with Robert Villamanga. These dolls are the result. Check out Robert's site if you get a chance, really great assemblage work.
The first doll has a flattened tin can head with a pair of earrings for eyes. Her legs are some great sticks I found somewhere along the way.
The coat hanger doll was made from found objects, old keys, and a splash of paint. These were great fun to make from things that were just laying around.
The doll at the far right was created in the same class by my good friend Emily Eckel.
